Homemade Circus is a Digital Toolkit that provides care home staff and activity coordinators with everything you need to feel confident about delivering circus activity sessions in a care home setting.

Upswing has been bringing circus activities into care homes for over 10 years, with extraordinary results. Our activities have helped people who live and work in care homes to come together, improve their wellbeing, build connections and keep their hands and fingers moving.

How it works

The Homemade Circus toolkit brings together everything we’ve learnt over the last decade, empowering you through comprehensive training and equipping you with the skills and confidence to lead your own circus activity sessions.

Inside you’ll find instructional videos, summary worksheets that you can download and bring along to sessions, expert guidance and practical insights to learn more. Whether you’re seeking gentle introductions or a challenge, our circus artists will guide you step-by-step on how to properly use different circus equipment, even if you’ve never tried anything like this before!
